15 Tesla Model Y must-haves
A new Model Y is 90% finished from the factory — the last 10% is a handful of cheap accessories that protect it and make daily life easier. Here's what owners buy first, grouped so you can stop reading once you've covered the essentials.
Protect it (buy these week one)
These three pay for themselves the first time they save you a cleaning bill or a screen scratch.
- All-weather floor mats — the factory mats are carpet; laser-fit rubber trays catch mud, snow and spills across all three rows and the trunk.
- Center-console & screen protection — a matte screen protector kills glare and fingerprints; console wraps stop the piano-black from scratching.
- Door-sill & trunk-lip guards — the spots that scuff first from shoes and cargo.
All-weather floor mat set (3-row + trunk)
Laser-measured for the current Model Y, raised edges, non-slip. The single most-recommended first purchase.
Organize it
The Model Y has huge but awkward storage. A few inserts turn it from cavernous to usable.
- Frunk & under-trunk organizers — bins that stop groceries from rolling around.
- Center-console trays — a hidden layer for cables, cards and sunglasses.
- Backseat cup/tissue holders — small, cheap, high-satisfaction.
Frunk + under-trunk organizer bins
Custom-fit bins that use the dead space. High-impulse, low-cost — the classic add-on-to-cart item.
Charge & road-trip it
Two of these are the big-ticket items — and the ones worth researching properly.
- A Level-2 home charger — the upgrade that changes ownership. Full guide below.
- A camping / back-seat mattress — turns "Camp Mode" into an actual bed; a seasonal best-seller.
- A CCS/adapter kit — opens up more fast-charging networks on long trips.
Model Y camping mattress
Folds into the rear footwells for a flat sleeping platform. Pairs with Camp Mode; spikes every summer.
What to skip
- Cheap "wireless charger" pads that overheat — the built-in phone dock is fine.
- Novelty light kits — fun for a week, a wiring headache forever.
- Aftermarket "range boosters" — they don't work. Save the money for the charger.
